He built a successful practice and later, took in partners, Drs. David Brownstein and Jeffrey Nusbaum, MD. It was during this time he became interested in holistic medicine.
Several years into his busy practice, Dr. Levine was appointed Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at the Detroit Medical Center. Dr. Levine held this position for four and a half years. Dr. Levine returned to private practice to find fulfillment in direct patient care. During this time Dr. Levine realized that alternatives to medication could often improve health as effectively as traditional medication.
Dr. Levine is one of only a few MDs in this area who is Board Certified in Family Medicine as well as Board Certified by the American Board of Holistic Medicine. This additional training requires board certification by another recognized specialty board (ABMS) as well as having to pass a specialized qualifying examination. Dr. Levine received holistic medical training at a time when few in the medical community knew about holistic medicine. His interest in a holistic practice resulted from a desire to find out better methods of treating chronic conditions and healing patients. Dr. Levine took his Acupuncture training at the Helms Institute for Medical Acupuncture at UCLA in California in 2002-2003.
He is on staff at two major hospitals in SE Michigan; Saint John Hospital, Detroit and the Detroit Medical Center. Dr. Levine is an Associate Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at Wayne State University and is a clinical instructor to residents and medical students.

Robert C. Levine, MD

I consider myself a healer and a doctor. Healing is a process guided by the patient and their doctor. My enthusiasm for helping people has not wavered since my days in medical school. Being a good physician is about having the compassion, knowledge and willingness to do whatever it takes to guide patients to wellness and not just prescribe to recover from or avoid disease.
